Shaven Raven Designs is a small business that puts its impact on the environment at the center of all its activities.

The greeting card and gifting industry uses around 12.5 million tonnes of paper a year and has greatly contributed to throwaway culture with so many items heading to the landfill and not the recycle bin thereby negatively impacting the environment. It's not a pretty picture! In an attempt to move towards more sustainable processes, we only work with companies who are:

*FSC certified (meaning they use paper stock which is responsibly and ethically sourced)

*Adopt sustainable practices themselves i.e. use vegetable inks, are part of water and energy saving initiatives and recycle where possible to cut waste and reduce emissions.

When we create greeting cards and print gift wrap sheets and send them out to customers, we are deliberate in our choices: i.e. actively choosing recycled/recyclable paper materials and biodegradable bags, refrain from laminating papers and avoid embellishments like sequins, glitter etc. (as they cannot be recycled).

It's important for us to be transparent about our practices and for people to know there are lots of small ways they can reduce their carbon footprint when buying gifts and/or sending cards - every bit helps!
